I know the Carolinas are allergy-oriented place...as are most places it seems, but wonder if the coast is somewhat different?
But how about RAGWEED POLLEN in particular...it is generally in the AUTUMN (NOT spring). So ragweed sufferers get it in August, September in particular.
Any ragweed pollen sufferers get it bad in Charleston that time of year (AUTUMN)?
(I keep stressing Autumn, because so many associate allergies with springtime and hay fever, which doesn't effect me whatsoever).
The ONLY time i don't suffer is Nov-Jan...Spring, Summer, Fall are brutal for me. I may as well take a bottle of benadryl every time i mow the yard , it's horrible, for me at least
I have terrible ragweed allergies. And in the fall in new england it got so bad. But I was here last fall, and barely saw ragweed and barely had a problem. sping here however... pollen is super high. not ragweed though.

That is GOOD to hear! As long as it ISN'T ragweed in Charleston!
I think Tree Pollen is the biggest allergen to worry about in the Carolinas...I don't have the ragweed allergy problems that I had in Ohio though. The Tree pollen does get me, but not nearly as bad...I no longer have to get the allergy shots like up there.
anybody bothered by mold allergies? My friends from Atlanta noticed within 2 years of moving to the east coast of FLA that their seasonal allergies weren't as bad as in ATL but the mold type allergies bothered them more....

We live in coastal NC and yes, mold allergies can be worse compared to the rest of the pollens we sneeze at.
One of the reasons we don't ever want another crawl space in a coastal area is because the crawlspace area (full of heat and air ducts) are full of mold and mildew; even with crawlspace drainage forceably installed by our state inspector and a plastic vapor barrior laid down.
On those very bad days of repeat rainy, damp weather you can smell strong mildew coming up thru the A/C floor vents. Not only that, but all the joist insulation gets sopping wet and falls off increasing the utility costs.
I keep wondering why they don't use some kind of expanding waterproof foam insulation in coastal crawlspaces.
I live on Food Lion's generic version of antihistimines.. it has all the same ingredients of the big name prescriptions and does the same job.
Allergies are a big part of living down South. There's two methods.. You can try taking desensitivation shots from allergy specialists (i did it for severe bee sting reactions) or sucking down pills daily...
If you don't want shots and want the natural route with no side effects, my doctor put me on quercitin and bromelain. It supresses the histamine response.
