Wescott Plantation would be a great neighborhood for you. Great schools, location and the prices are good.

You may also want to check the Crowfield Plantation area in Goose Creek. Your teen would attend Stratford High. The high school is in the plantation so it takes 5 min or less to get to. I know of many Navy and Coast Guard personal that live in this area.

West Ashley does have some nice homes. Check out the HS, GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community, it is not as highly thought of as some of the HS's in Dorchestor county and Mt Pleasant. Carolina Bay, Shadowmoss are a few nice neighborhoods as well as the ones DJ mentioned. I don't think they are any closer the CG training center, but if you prefer that area check it out.

I would recommend you pick your schools first, then that will determine what area to start looking in. I agree with Beachme about Wescott Plantation.
