The new school complex (Emphasis on Complex) is looking great! Hoover will certainly have one of the better facilities for both academics and sports in the state when its all finished. Well deserved for the community, and the students who have continued to shine despite the hurdles they have faced in the last 6 years!
I am happy that end of the county is getting a nice new campus- the old Hoover was a dump that had been flooded repeatedly and for years had a reputation of not being the best academic wise. When I was in high school (c/o 2000 what?!) we had a number of kids at Capital who were from Pinch / Elkview because their parents didn't want them to go to school at Hoover. Seems like it has made some vast improvements since then!

Since roughly 2012, Hoover has been ranked consistently in the top 15-20 High Schools in WV. Second or third in Kanawha County, only to GW and occasionally Saint Albans. The Elk River community has really rallied behind this school, and it continues to improve in almost every aspect. People wanted to write off Hoover and the Elk River in general after the flood. Instead, the community as a whole has gotten stronger! Just look at the renaissance Clendenin is having right now. There's more business there now, then there was before the flood. The school's success in academics and in sports is simply the fruit of how the community is changing for the good.
Here’s an updated look at the new school and sports fields. This is nice!
Also,
Shout out to the Huskies who played in their first ever state championship game in football this past weekend! Things are rising on the Elk River, and it isn’t the River itself! Thank God!
As a native of the Elk River and Hoover grad myself, I am extremely excited for the new school. The main building looks great, and the sports facilities will be second to none in the state. It has been a long process, but it will be worth it when it opens up for school next fall.
It's great to FINALLY see some progress on the elementary school! It, along with the high school will continue to boost the Elk River communities post-flood.
Brad Paisley is going to perform at “opening night” of the new Hoover football field. It’ll be a scrimmage between the Huskies and Brad’s Alma Mater of John Marshall on August 19th

Edit: I haven’t actually seen anywhere confirming that he is going to perform. Only attend.
Still, this is really cool to see.
