Here in Miami, all public schools require uniforms. At first, I wasn't crazy about the idea, but it didn't take long for me to like the fact that kids won't be judging each other on what they're wearing.

What about public schools in Meck. (or surrounding) counties?? Are uniforms worn??

TIA.

Amy

A handful of schools in Mecklenburg county have opted for uniforms - it's a school by school decision.

Depends on the school. Some in CMS do, some don't. Some in surrounding counties do, some don't. When researching schools, ask or read up on the dress code. Also, when I would go to the individual school's website, I would look at the photos. That will show you what the kids are wearing. Below are some links to local schools.

Some do; some don't. I know in our area, the elementary and middle schoolers have to wear uniforms, but the high schoolers don't, which doesn't make any sense to me. Elementary school students aren't the ones who show up to class looking like they belong more on a strip somewhere.

I am also a concerned parent that needs to know if the children in charlotte north carolina wear school uniforms i think that it is much easier to deal with also i feel that when you have 5 children like i do it can be much expensive to spend alot of money on regular clothes through out the school year when i feel the uniforms are much cheaper.

I personally am a huge fan of uniforms for the reasons stated above: it levels the playing field, so to speak. It puts the focus back on school and learning and takes it off of the fashion world.

Parents still need to instill this value in their kids: clothes and such are not important: your work at school is important.
