This place just opened recently (within the last couple of months). My comments....unbelieveable selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, but the reason I went was for fresh fish. Sorry, not so wonderful. Some of the fish looked ok - others looked like they had been dead for a very long time...sunken dull eyes, etc. Is there anywhere to buy good fresh fish in the Matthews area of the Charlotte Metro? There was an impressive selection of Asian foods.
It depends on the days you go. I've been told by relatives and market owners that crab (and probably other seafood) deliveries are on Thursday/Friday. That is when they are the freshest.
I've never gotten anything but excellent seafood here, especially shellfish. I love this place and love exploring the aisles. The other day I went to Harris Teeter and needed a cucumber. They had them for $1.19 and they looked awful! Super G had 3 for $1.00 and they were beautiful. It's definitely hit or miss but I can find things here that I can't find anywhere else in Charlotte. There's a sign in the back that says they're opening a Korean restuarant soon. I am soooo excited about that!

I'm not sure where the produce is from. I really never buy too much of it unless the price is really good because it kind of creeps me out and I'm not sure why. But their canned and jarred foods are really interesting. Grand Asian is great too. They also have an excellent food court/restaurant within the store. Be warned, it is WAY out in Stallings. I love that we have these shopping options in the area.
I am curious as to whether Super G Mart or Grand Asia Market have a fruit called mangosteen. I had it in Singapore a couple years ago and loved it, and then I found it in Vancouver last year, but I have a feeling that had to do with the large Asian community. But I have not seen it since, and I am fiending for some mangosteen!
Does Super G or Grand Asia Market have live lobsters?
I usually just get them at Harris Teeter, but open to change as they seem to only have small ones lately.
EDIT: Just realized Grand Asia Market is not too far from my office and will check it out today.
From the website it looks like they strive to have a nice live selection of seafood.

I've never seen live lobsters at Super G, and I was in there yesterday.
On a side note, I wonder if their business would increase if they had English translations for their ethnic foods. I'd like to cook more Asian food, but can't begin to understand the labels on most of their food. To me it looks like they have 40 varieties of the same noodles, for instance, but that seems unnecessarily redundant. I assume I'm missing the differences.
