The towns of Mooresville and Davidson will be asked to provide over $6M to keep the wheels on their government owned cable company. These numbers are not pretty, but they can surely decimate the coffers of Davidson (their share is $2M).
The best part is the cable overlords here are trying to put it on the citizens saying that the community needs to sign up for service and make it work! How about this... why didn't the governments listen to the community who said not to spend $90M to buy a cable company when TWC was doing just fine for us?
Here's the article from the Observer (since the Tribune hasn't put anything on their website yet):

Maybe they could get a few more subscribers if they answered the phone....I spent over 30 minutes on hold trying to switch from TW...I'll just stay where I am

Answer the phones? They're too busy getting ready to jack up the rates!
Seeing as how the Mooresville newspaper won't print relevant articles about the disaster named MI-Connection, I searched around and found this article in the Davidson News online...
It's just about that time of the year where Mooresville and Davidson have to pony up millions of tax dollars to keep this horrible failure of a cable company afloat.
I have to give kudo's to the D'son News. They have several great articles (both pro and con) about this cable fiasco whereas Mooresville keeps the whole thing 'hush-hush'.
I can only hope the taxpayers realize what this is costing each and every one of them. According to the conservative numbers in the article, Mooresville taxpayers are on the hook for approx $11M over the next 3 years alone! And unless there's a big rush of new customers to MI-C (and they can stop LOSING customer's), there will be millions more being paid in the future.
All of this money to duplicate what is already offered by REAL cable tv companies in the area. Great work, town leaders!
Why did they even think it's a good idea to buy something like that in the first place? All that money they are dumping into it could be well spent elsewhere.
Time for an update on the Mi-Connection mess we taxpayers have to deal with in Mooresville, Cornelius and Davidson. Even noted telecom analyst Jeffrey Kagan is weighing in on how bad this operation is for the taxpayers:
Expert on MI-Connection liability: 'that's too bad' (http://lakenormancitizen.com/expert-on-miconnection-liability-thats-too-bad-p3149-90.htm - broken link)
I can't believe any voter in the member towns could ever re-elect these "leaders" () that sold out their constituencies with their horribly bad decision to enter the cable TV business, especially when public opinion was firmly against putting the financial health of the towns at risk for years to come.
i looked at it but there is much more selection with directv
