Could anyone tell me anything about the Westchester area?
I use to live in Clayton and loved it there but I cant afford it now.
I would like to know mostly about the safety in Westchester.
I am single white female with single daughter and 2 small children.
We dont want to be afraid of guns going off and gangs running the streets.
Also if the blacks/white get along in this neighborhood.
Without safety we cant have anything else.
thank you

Westchester is one of the older subdivisions in Charlotte. It is located in West Charlotte by the airport off of Freedom Drive. The houses are there were mainly ranch style/split level houses built in the 60's and 70's...Most of the people who reside there have been there since the subdivision was built. Now grant it, it is located in West Charlotte in which there is a stigma attached to this side of town...but honestly it is one of those hidden gems that is honestly a great neighborhood to live in. Very quiet subdivision.- How do i know all of this you may ask - I currently live there.

I lived in Westchester as a young child. I remember it being a very nice quiet neighborhood, granted that was 30+ years ago. The entire area has gone down hill since then. As much as I would like to say it is still a nice area, I really don't believe that. The schools in the area are bad too. Not somewhere I would want to raise my children.

You can do a search on the CMPD website of the crime stats. IMO, it is not a good area. Many years ago yes, now? Not so much.
