Our family is relocating from NE Ohio and my wife has instructed my to inquire about the grocery shopping in Charlotte. We typically do our grocery shopping at Giant Eagle and Marc's (for discount shopping). We're wondering if there is a local discount grocer in the area comparable to Marc's in Ohio? Thanks for your feedback!

Harris Teeter is NOTHING like marc's, but may be comparable to giant.

Food Lion and Bi-Lo are probably the most like marc's i have found (bi-lo more so than food lion)

Fresh Market and Aldi, i can't speak for

Walmart, Sams club, & Cosco are the same everywhere

Whole Foods and Trader Joes are terribly expensive and mostly for the "natural/organic" types.

i'll also add lowes foods. they are similar to giant as well and offer a card for discounts on hess gas stations.

i've not seen anything like marc's around here.

If you are familiar with Meijers, Ingles is closest to them, but they are not in the city, yet.

There are no stores like Marc's , Giant Eagle...thank god
I know my mother-n-law shops there but outside of Marc's good prices I found the store and Giant Eagle trashy, dirty...grocery stores in CLT are much nicer but probably a little more pricey here.

They closed the Bottom Dollar in Mooresville.
We used to hit Aldi first, Bottom Dollar second, Food Lion third.

OP: Where in NE Ohio? I was born and raised in Warren.

I also relocated to Charlotte from NE Ohio almost four years ago from the Youngstown area (Berlin Center to be exact) after graduating from YSU.

Default Nothing close to Marc's

Like the one poster said there is nothing close to Marc's in Charlotte. I did have one family member mention how dirty the floors were at Marc's,lol. I used to shop at Marc's for bread's,can goods, & POP(not soda). Marc's sells a lot of name brand items at cheaper prices. I do believe there are a couple of Sav-a-lots here. Your best bet is Walmart before going to the other grocery stores. I really miss Marc's, I could get the Freshlike brand of can goods.
