Indian Land. I've calmed down since . They are going to reserve a loaf of the authentic Cuban bread (with lard b/c they make one without too, which is not Cuban bread) for Friday.

Now I am getting hungry just thinking about it.

Was at both stores today for work. They had nearly identical layouts from what I could tell. Seemed like the Fort Mill store was a bit busier, but overall it was a very large crowd at both locations especially considering 2 stores not that far apart were opening on the same day.

I'm curious what some of those that were critical of Publix think of it if they were able to make it over. I don't think they really went much above and beyond their typical stores (not that that's a bad thing), so in my opinion these stores are probably fairly typical of what you'd see in other places, just newer obviously. I will say one thing I don't like about Publix is their one-way parking lots, hate those things!

Does anyone know if Publix does double coupons? When I lived in FL years ago they did not.

Yes Publix doubles coupons up to fifty cents. They will also generally accept competitors coupons but those competitors vary with each store. Florida stores operate on a different method and I have been told that most do not double coupons there.

Heard a store employee say "Up to .50" yesterday.

Yes, Publix in Florida operates with a different coupon policy and different ad week I think. The good thing about Publix is that there isn't a daily coupon limit, but still people shouldn't hoard. Since our Publix had their grand opening on a Wednesday, I'm assuming we are on the Wednesday ad week instead of Tuesday like some other Publix. I'm wondering if our Publix are doing the penny item I hear so much about on couponing blogs?

My gut tells me the novelty will wear off soon.....
As a former Floridian, I would often shop at Publix. But like here, I ended up doing much shopping at Walmart and other grocery stores that were just as good and affordable. Publix "A" stores are really nice and many grande openings are as "A" stores. You may notice that after 90 days, the friendliness that you now experience wares off and it becomes just another ole "B" grocery store. Maybe since they are new to the Charlotte metro area, they may put in more effor. Except for "Boars head meat" for the northerners and cannolis, I never saw any difference. They did make fairly good Cuban sandwiches at the deli. Don't get me wrong. I am glad they are here and they are a good store. Competition is always great. I would like to see one move into the old Lowes in Huntersville near Birkdale.

That is indisputable, along with the fact that you somehow found the topic interesting enough to read and comment on the thread.
