There was TV show that was on in the 1970s called Moving On which was partially shot on location in Charlotte. Right now they are showing some of the Charlotte shows with some particularly good ones that were taken right on Tryon St. in downtown Charlotte. (as it was called then) Other than a few of the skyscrapers such as the former non-First Union Wachovia building, it's mostly unrecognizable now. There was also an episode filmed at Charlotte Motor Speedway and the change there is just as dramatic.

This show is on RTV on broadcast channel 14.2 at 2pm in the afternoons in the Charlotte area. I don't know if it is on cable or not.
