I have one, I'll dm you

And try not to be so sensitive! I don't think 1908 meant any harm.

I surely did not, but hindsight is 20/20.

The phone number for the NC Dept of Social Services is (704) 336-3000. They are responsible for various programs within the community, such as emergency services, utility help, etc. If they can't help you, I'm sure they'd be aware of another office that can help you. No one on here should be judging you, but trying to help you instead. None of us are perfect. May seem like you are getting the run around, but keep trying. If I were in your shoes and couldn't find help, I'd go into a police station, tell them your story, and ask them to help you to locate an office that may be able to help you. You won't be the first person to ever have a criminal record and need help. Alot of times people will get on their high horse, but someone out there will see you are trying and be kind. Good luck to you.

I would also look into the expungement laws in North Carolina. There have been some recent changes. It's probably pretty unlikely that breaking and entering is one of the eligible offenses, but it is worth talking to a lawyer about.

B & E would qualify under the new bill, my understanding last i heard was that it had left committee but hadnt had a full vote in senate. B & E would qualify but changes could still be made to this law. An attorney friend I spoke with about it told me that he wasnt sure how it would work for me because of the consolidations that happened in my case I sure will try though whenever its passed

Slightly off topic, but if your record is expunged, what do you say if asked if you've ever had a felony?

My understanding is that all records are ordered destroyed public and private by court order with the exception of FBI records. You would be legally allowed to say NO I have never been convicted of a crime with the exception of if you tried to sit for the bar.

Default My suggestion was deleted

I had some suggestions how to help your situation including a complex in Charlotte with 80 units but it has gone missing. Sorry.

That being said, as a landord I would not rent in this strong market, to ANYONE, without a strong pedigree.

Now, bf all you liberals on the issue start naysaying.....have you ever been a landlord? If you have, I would entertain a discussion with you.

Current employment that shows one can pay the rent without a problem. Pay stubs. Work history beyond recent employment.

Previous landlord reference.

Personally meeting the renter face to face and having a good feeling. No attitude.

Plausable reason why they are changing housing location.

Note: This is a very strong rental market right now.LL's have suffered the past couple of years but now have an op to move forward with little risk. If one has a good apt and the right price it's like selling a Mona Lisa. Easy.
