Starmount, Glenkirk are any of these good areas? They do not have to be the greatest, but being a first time home buyer they would need to have stable home values.

I am not a big fan of Starmount or Glenkirk at all.
The wiser investments are in Echo Hills, Oakhurst, and Madison Park
I like Oakhurst, I just bought a house that I'm renovating there that I will put on the market in about 30 days. It will be gorgeous, ikea kitchen, ikea bathroom, granite, hardwoods, nice lot with think woods and a valley out back.. etc. I think I'll be listing it at $119,000. Seems like a good deal to me, but then again I am biased
If you have elementary school kids we have a good neighborhood... The zoned school is title 1, so CMS must provide alternative schools AND you get first priority in magnet lottery. We used it with great success...

I'll be listing considerably higher than that, but we went custom on everything and moved some walls around.
New architectural shingles, 2400 ft2 heated (800 is interior access finished basement), new 19 SEER cooling unit, new gas furnace, brick outbuilding/workshop, refinished hardwoods, exotic granite, stone tile in kitchen, tiled honey onyx backsplash, custom cabinets, stainless steel appliances, copper flashing, new driveway, new screened porch, Remodeled bath, new plumbing, upgraded service panel (200amps), Brick fenced backyard, iron gates, new water supply, new retaining wall, custom steel pedestrian gate, new paint and finishes throughout, security lights, walk up mail service, 5 minutes to uptown... I could drone on but I won't.
It's a great house! If you wait till I sell mine it will be a great comp for yours and probably pull your LP up a little, lol.
I like Oakhurst too, but I invested a little closer to town for a more urban feel.
