There are many restaurants Uptown that I want to try, but spending $5 or $10 for parking seems sort of silly. Does anyone know if any restaurants validate parking in a garage/lot, or if there is some super secret free parking that I'm not aware of? Or even a section of meters that I know will always be available?

Rock Bottom I believe validates for 2 hours, as does Mez in the Epicentre. As far as meters go, you can also try the area on sixth street near Poplar and the Harris Teeter.

The fancier places tend to do valet parking, which can be expensive.

If you have some time, you could park in one of the lots on Elizabeth Ave. near Presbyterian hospital and take the Gold Rush trolley bus into town.

If you park at 7th Street Station, you can get your parking validated at the 7th Street Public Market. I know for sure Brixx Pizza will validate your parking for that deck also, and I'm guessing other restaurants around the area will too. I think it's for 90 minutes - you could eat just about anywhere and pick up something at the market in that time.

Paying 10 dollars for lunch then having to pay 10 dollars for parking sucks.

I always use the Scaleybark Park & Ride and take the Lynx train into Uptown. About $4 round trip and no worry about parking. Neat ride too,. Of course, I live about 5 minutes from the station.
