Perhaps not morbid when done in the community where such an act took place, but that is plainly weird to have a park pop up in S. Charlotte . . . oh my.
Next think you know Jennifer Roberts will put a statute of Gandhi at the old courthouse.

It's an easy way to get a park built that didn't have funding.
I am very uncomfy with this. Even the article mentions gun control. Why are we doing this? Who's idea was it?
I didn't watch tonight's #cltcc meeting but I can't imagine it being voted down by anyone if it had come up for a vote. YOU WOULD BE AGAINST THE CHILDREN.
I think the previous posters summed up any comment I might have had.
Now I've read the article, I see a couple items of interest. One is that this is a playground, not a park, and will be built in Park Road Park. A quarter mil for a slide, a bench, and some padded ground as a constant reminder of tragedy.
The other thing I saw is this:
"As part of the design process, the firm will seek the ideas and suggestions of local school children on whey though would like to see included in the design."
Go ahead and raise money to help out the families of the children if you wish but this whole idea of a playground dedicated to the memory of children that were murdered 700 miles away is just plain morbid as NDL has said.

This country has gone memorial crazy.
Agreed, just look at the roadside in many spots where there has been a fatal accident. Some are even using solar powered spot lights to accentuate the "memorial" to the unfortunate soul.

It's an obvious ploy to milk money from people for a pet project. Whoever proposed it should be put on blast.

well at least there was a fatal accident to justify the memorial... I don't see anything wrong with that.
This playground is like putting a memorial on a random street for a crash that happened half way across the country... doesn't make any sense.

A statue of Gandi would be very nice (wherever located, lol) even tho i wouldn't understand the relevance in relationship to Charlotte.
