As always Ani, very well said. I'm almost a little embarrassed for Charlotte. I have lots of family in CT and I live pretty close to Park Road Park. I'll make a mental note to never suggest we take the kids over there.
“This project is about bringing the community together to remember those lost in Newtown,” said Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Director Jim Garges. “What better way to remember the 26 students and teachers than a playground designed and inspired by children.”
Construction of the playground will begin in spring 2013 and will take about four or five days to complete. Hundreds of volunteers are expected to help with the playground build.
The project is expected to cost about $250,000. The department has secured $100,000 in Park and Recreation bond money; the rest will be sought through private donations.

I'm pulling all public records on this so if something goes bad we'll know who to point to.
Is this the same park system that has let so many of its employees go that maintenance and even waste management has been severely restricted?

I remember exactly where I was when the happened. I had just worked out, and was watching the liftoff at the juice bar of the gym. I'd stopped at the at about 10 seconds before the explosion. It took the wind out of me and made me physically sick.

Just an FYI, I made up that list of playground accoutrements. I don't even know what is still considered safe for kids.
The county has just informed me that this $250K project was conceptualized, referred to an architect and fundraising commenced with zero e-mails being generated and nothing written down or typed on to paper.

Who thinks I'm going to accept that answer?
Okay, that is just lame.
Too bad we don't have a newspaper with real reporters who do investigative journalism.

lolololol.
Hey, you ever read any of Aesop's fables? You should read "The Little Boy who Cried Wolf", it's relevant.
oh my, has anybody been to Park Road park lately? the flood project that
has torn the park up for more than 6 years is still not done, perhaps
volunteers can get things done faster.

Nothing's relevant coming from you.
I don't care for your opinion but I'm guessing many of us have an issue that the county is spending 1/4 million dollars on something using just the telephone and water cooler talk without generating a paper trail.
That seems unusual to me.
