The Constitution was written to put limits on what the states' enforcement arms can do. The founding fathers warned, several times against eroding rights in return for the false sense of Safety.

Modern Americans are the only people in the world who gladly sacrifice their rights to the state.
Thank you for your explanation. I am often a little confused by the outlook of some of the posts in this forum and insights like this are a great help and an education for me.

We, in the UK where I currently live have the highest number of CCTV cameras operated by or on behalf of the state anywhere, I believe, in the world per capita. I do not like these but now, I never notice them. It is easy therefore for me to say things as I did in my earlier post(s).

I respect freedom and am looking forward to moving to Charlotte and the Southern US when our Green Cards (our son is an American citizen) are made available later this year. btw: I am not job hunting, I am retired with fairly decent pensions. My aim is to wear out golf clubs and to spoil my grandchildren...

A NC legislator is introducing a bill to define the use of drones.
It would authorize them for search-and-rescue operations or other non investigatory uses. Officers would need a warrant to use them in criminal investigations.

New info:

QUOTE: North Carolina is one of more than two dozen states in the running for the test sites, a project that could bring drones to the state's skies despite the Legislature's ban."

QUOTE: "While the state DOT hopes to land FAA funding for one of its test ranges, state officials plan to go ahead regardless researching what seems likely to be a growing industry of the future, Walls said. The state's requirement to get an exception to the statewide drone ban shouldn't be a problem, he said.
"I think we'll get the exception granted and we'll move forward with the program. I'm confident," Walls said. "We're still going forward with our range and figuring out how to make RPVs work for North Carolina."

Seems to me that if a robot comes onto your property, you have the right to deal with it.
