Do all the cars and trucks in their yard have wheels and tires on the vehicles?
The similar yard in South Carolina, removes all tires and rims and use misc. wheels or rims to weld to the bottom of the vehicle to keep it off the ground.
If the Charlotte yard does it the same way, then a trip there to buy a rim or wheel won't work.
The local yard is related to a auto salvage yard and they want $100 for a 15 inch wheel for our truck.
That seems high for a wheel.
They remove the rims or tire and set the rotors on them. I seen it done both ways and place the vehicle on it.
I only had to get minor parts in the past like a brake light cover so it was cheap so I cant give what a quote on rims.
Maybe call them and see what they will quote you.
If you go bring necessary tools and summer is worst time to go there so hit them in the morning or it will unbearable hot.
Steel will work fine as a spare.
-----------
The national office for the one in Charlotte sent this message and they said we can just drive up there and hope.
"All of the vehicles are elevated off the ground, but they are not welded to anything. The wheels are left on when they are placed in the yard. If those wheels are available on any of the cars there, you will need the correct tool(s) to remove them from the hub."
So, e-mail and by phone does not work, you can not speak to staff in Charlotte only at main office in somewhere, USA.
I went to the pull a part on tryon. They had tons and tons of rims piled up. They also have it by the cars as well that it came off of. But it's one of those that you have to go and see if they have it, they don't keep track of what has been sold/picked etc.

They have the year/model of cars that are on their lot on their website. Last I looked the new place on Statesville didn't have their inventory online yet.

I meant they don't keep track of the parts pulled, just what vehicle they have. I've learned to pick the vehicles that were newly junked there. I also have an email alert when the make/model/years is acquired.

As much as a hassle it is to go and hope they have your part, it's been a huge money saver for us. Especially little things like a window regulator. We paid like $10 for a pulled one when a new one cost over $100. i also did get a get a set of 4 michelin tires from a salvage yard in Rock Hill for a quarter of the price and they were about 85 percent good tread on them. That one was an excellent find.
