I am a young professional moving to Charlotte in the next few months and I would really appreciate some advice on where to live
I am moving not knowing ANYONE so I would like to live in an area where there are other people in my situation. I have a dog so a place that would be safe for me to run or walk her would be ideal. I do outside sales so I do not need to live in a specific area and I would like to spend no more than $1200/month.
Well if you dont mind living like 10 min outside Charlotte Camden Pinehurst off Providence road has been fine for me... I know they allow pets for a small extra charge... and rent for a double has been around $800 cheap cheap if you split with a roomie. It is a very nice location close to everything i need and a nice area.

This is a site that talks about the Greenways in Charlotte. You should easily be able to find something in that price range around these areas. Radbourne Lake of W.T. Harris Blvd has a green way entrance in the complex at the back of the complex and is a very nice area to walk your dog or enjoy the scenery.
I'm sure there are others but I have personally lived there so I can speak about it. It's an older complex built in 1992.

I second this. We lived there for a few months while looking for houses. They have a great pool, tennis courts, basket ball court, sand volleyball. Its close to South Park mall and the surrounding shopping/dining areas. Also very inexpensive, but nice apartment. The only hitch was that we found a house sooner than we had thought and the cost to break the lease and close up all of our bills was pretty expensive.
Dillworth is quite nice. your rental budget will give you lots of choices of housing. you could rent a townhouse, live in an apartemnt complex or rent a portion of a house. The best piece of advise I can give is to know where your working first, choose a driving time you need in order to get there and then choose the home. You'll find that during rush hour in certin locations in Charlotte, you can spend in excess of an hour to get just 12 miles. Good luck! This board is very helpfull so keep your questions coming!
Thanks for the suggestions! What do you all think of the Dillworth area? I seem to read alot about it on these forums.
Dilworth is beautiful and would be plenty safe to walk your dog. There are two wonderful parks (Freedom and Latta) and East Blvd is full of restaurants and shops.
I was going to recommend that you look into Dilworth. If you're familiar with Chicago, it's sort of the "Lincoln Park" of Charlotte.
