On my first visit to Charlotte, two years ago, one of the first meals I ordered at a restaurant was chicken and waffles. Got it at Zink American Kitchen in uptown. But I just looked at their menu online, and they don't seem to serve it anymore.
BrickTop's restaurant in Southpark has Chicken and Waffles on their menu! I had it recently for the first time and it was very good. They do it the right way with boneless fried chicken tenders directly on top of the waffle with butter. Drizzle maple syrup over everything and you are set! Great combination of sweet and savory.
Oh, man - some of that stuff is GROSS! And some made me drool...
All things in moderation, right? Unless moderation isn't even possible - like with the Hurler Burger made by putting a burger and easy cheese inside a jelly donut! (no way to link to the individual pics - it's on this page)
