There are a few of us who live west of Charlotte. We do get some questions on here, from time to time, so this thread can be a catch-all. Most of the news will probably concern Gastonia, as of now. If the casino deal is approved we can do a separate thread for Kings Mountain.

There's currently a fair amount of change going on, on East Franklin & West Franklin, in Gastonia. Morgan's Bootery is going into the former Gastonia Nissan building & Hobby Lobby is building a new, bigger, store on East Franklin. The work on the Loray Mill is visibly progressing on West Franklin.

That is so true. South Charlotte seems to be the end all be all. When we relocated it wasn't on our radar. We picked north of the city. Don't regret it for a second. To each their own I guess.

My neighbor is hosting his "Charlie Craig Fifth Annual Cruise In" on Oct 12.

If your into old cars, etc definitely check it out, it gets bigger and better every year. Right off S New Hope Rd across from AmberJacks.

Things are moving along, jp. This year it's mostly retail, but when the old Loray Mill is rehabbed it should trigger a big change on West Franklin.

If you have never been out there its a lot of fun. 10 dollars to get in and you can bring in your own cooler. The Late Models are great to watch!

October 12th is also the Gateway Festival in Kings Mountain. Wanted: Vendors for Kings Mountain Gateway Festival - Local - Gaston Gazette

The festival celebrates the battle & there are usually reenactor encampments.

I agree, the dirt track is a great place to go. My husband and father used to race dirt track in Florida now my husband currently lives "next door" to the dirt track. We love to watch dirt racing
