For the first time we have a wood burning fireplace. (All the others were gas) I read you have to be careful not to use just any woods because of pesticide etc. Anyone have a source where they buy fire wood?
Not sure where you live, drive out into the county and look for signs. Your after hardwood (oak) or hickory.
I don't have to worry about chemicals etc with either one? I see signs but always wondered if it was just random people who cut trees down and selling it off.
Personally I burn hickory. It's perfect wood for camp fires out in the back yard with the kids. It's a nice slow controlled burn. It would also smell lovely in the house
On hot days, the fireplace does give off a pretty woodsy smell. Looking forward to it as it's one of my favorite scents when I am out back smoking on my grill.
I am out in Gaston, my neighbor has lived here all his live, so he has a good supply of hickory. Do you guys know any old school natives out where you live you can ask? Might be your best bet. Try craigslist also maybe, might be worth a shot.
Yes sir! I am heading deep into Lancaster for my monthly meat shopping trip anyhow. Will keep an eye out for signs. (I love Frontier Meats!)
You realize Frontier Meats is in Waxhaw, and North Carolina right? LOL
I didnt know to be careful about firewood either though, thanks for posting this topic.
