It would sure be nice to get that in this area. When Google Fiber went to Austin, all of a sudden, AT&T was offering to upgrade its Uverse service to fiber too. Imagine that.

More competition, the better for us.

Right now we have the best available in the area (Ultimate TWC) which gives speeds above 50 Mbps (no problems) but would not mind to pay less than $70 something per month...

I CANNOT WAIT FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS. Seriously, I'm so excited. I sincerely hope we get chosen.

That would be fantastic, although by 'Charlotte' I hope that doesn't just mean the city itself. I live in Huntersville and it'd be a shame to miss out on this!

Definitely looking forward to it, though I doubt I'd get it. Based on pricing in Kansas and Utah, it would look like:

$120 - 1 GB internet (lightning fast) + TV
$70 - 1 GB internet
$300 - Installation for 5MB internet with no monthly fee (good for at least 7 years).

The $300 option is too slow for me. The $70 option is too expensive. I pay about $40 for 50MB internet from TWC. It would be a good negotiating tool and hopefully drive the price down for my 50MB internet service.

This. Hopefully, it would come out to Matthews as well.

I have 30MB internet and standard cable with free HBO and one cable box, and my bill is about $140/month. I'd gladly pay $120/month (plus taxes) for 1 GB internet and tv, especially if it's consistently fast. For the last month or so, I've been losing connections daily even with wired connections.
