So if you are not a fan of the cuisine, what did you have to eat?

I ordered the fried pork chunks, they were very good. I dont eat many carbs, so that left the rice and beans for my wife. I did eat some of the mariquitas, the garlic dipping sauce was excellent.

I love the pork chunks, had them the last couple of times.

I agree with you on the rice and beans though.

Thumbs up Janet, Highland Creek

We go down to Carlos Cafe from Highland Creek about every 6 weeks. We started going there when the original owners were still there and the food is even better now. We moved here from Miami and this is about as close as you can get to the Cuban food in Miami. Joe and his wife are wonderful hosts and will even add ingredients to your dish if asked. The food is really good. We've tried A Taste of Havana and it doesn't compare the Carlos Cafe. The Cuban restaurant in Concord is very small, but good for a lunch. The servings are more than ample and you will leave there feeling very satisfied. If you want a really good Cuban meal, the trip to Rock Hill is more than worth it.
