My bf and I are thinking of moving to Rock Hill, SC. We need to find affordable rental apartments/housing and for work I work in Administration and my bf works as an IT tech we are both entry to mid-level in our careers.

Looking to find out from locals if there is a good chance of finding good work with fair pay in both of our fields. We also need to know if it is possible to find affordable housing between $500-750/month.

Thanks for any help given, if more info is needed please ask.

Am I not asking in the right forum, or what is wrong here? I thought my question was pretty straight forward. Did I leave something out. I mean for rent we were finding 1 bdroom apts for less than $750 when we looked online, but we don't know the area at all.

Sorry we are going to try and commute to Charlotte for work, that's why we posted it here. But we are going to try and live in Rock Hill, SC and commute to Charlotte.

Also can anyone tell us what the commute times would be to Charlotte from Rock Hill. Is there a ton of traffic to deal with?

It can be as fast as 25 minutes or as slow as an hour and a half depending on wrecks, congestion, construction, weather, etc.

Many people do it everyday. If I were starting from scratch I would not choose to.

Charlotte is an in-migration city so people here can be a bit "squeezed dry" offering friendly advice.

You're certainly not going to find any $700 apartments in nice parts of Charlotte.

If you can take the express busses to uptown for work, it'll be a more bearable commute from Rock Hill.

I didn't realize so many people were moving to Charlotte. I had no idea to be honest. I thought overall it was an average city. If that is the case then it sounds like the city is doing very well then, overall then. We used to live in Ohio, and have come to find out that N.C. is very similar to Ohio, in many ways, (not geographically of course). My bf will hopefully be the main bread and butter for our finances so we were thinking that Charlotte would be a good place for IT work.
