Default Guardian Home Technologies

Anybody ever dealt with them for new construction services? Prices seem awful high, but I'm sure you can negotiate. I was curious about the quality of the work and the quality of the equipment they use, specifically with security systems. $110 per window contact seems steep, but you need all of your bottom floor windows contacted I'd say b/c if you're home with alarm set to no motion so you can move around, someone could pry open the window and you wouldn't know.

I'd be very curious also. I'm looking to purchase a new home and the builder uses Guardian.

Where are you buying. I had an estimate from Guardian for a new home recently. They said the motion detectors in the home would be enough to deter someone. The alarm would sound and that was good enough for us. We decided not to go with the window stuff.

Not to try to get this topic off thread but just a thought..Down in Miami, you can buy window film that withstands major breakage (say a baseball bat--really for hurricane protection) Does any company supply that up here?? That would obviously be a lot cheaper than $110 a window..

I've looked into this optoin too! haven't found any local installers though. Makes a lot of sense.

Our builder in Ayrsley is using them. I think the system installation for our place being built is about $1100...with $40 per month for the monitoring service fee, which is comparable to what we pay up here in Baltimore. I would think, in the grand scheme of things, compared to what you're paying for the house, tossing an extra grand or so in for a security system is not that great of an expense.

I'm assuming if you're in Arsley then you're buying a Ryan home. Anyway, my current alarm was absolutely free and was installed after our condo was built. It's completely wireless, works off my vonage VOIP service and has key fobs. I use CPI Security and it's $30/mo.

I'm considering getting my future home hard wired but it's not nearly worth 1K to do. My wireless works great and I'd have no problems installing another wireless system if the hard wired system is expensive.

I'm interested in doing whole house audio and some internet drops throughout the house, maybe an intercom. I think window taps are a must. If you have the motions, that's great, but if you're at home and have system set with motions off, someone could pry open window -- not break it and set off your glass breakage -- and be in with you!

Curious what the 1K Guardian system bought you?
