Based on your budget I'm thinking you could easily find something in Concord. As someone else mentioned, some of the "Active Lifestyle" senior developments have nice amenities that you may want to consider if you enjoy those things but have their drawbacks as well - sometimes higher HOA fees and restrictions. That said, I should think a mid-sized single family home should be well within reach.
We moved to Mooresville from NJ. Bought a small ranch in a development by the lake and we love it. We are both retired, and love the mix of young and old here.
