Hey y'all!
I have been reading as much as I can on the boards here and am feeling infinitely enlightened.
That said, I am looking for a little info regarding my own job search.
I have a valid NC license to teach high school English and am in the process of applying for jobs with my portfolio, online applications, etc. I've been living in Taiwan for almost four years and teaching EFL, and now I'm coming back home, though this time to Charlotte. (I'm originally from Chapel Hill.) I've kept up well with my reading and am ready to make the return, but when I look at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg DPI page, it seems that there aren't any positions open. Is this because teachers will wait terribly long to notify administrators that they are leaving (due to there not being any contracts) or because the demand has already been supplied, and thus I ought not hold my breath for positions opening up there? Or is it something else? I'd be grateful for any insight, as I see Cumberland County and several other counties already have open positions listed for English teachers. Should I look more into the neighboring counties? I am also a little nervous about interviewing via phone, and that I will likely only be available at the end of July/beginning of August--the high school jobs open their doors on August 18--though I'll strive to do my best and prepare well from here.
Thanks!
