Long time legacy anchorman Paul Cameron has retired from WBTV. After replacing Jim Thacker as the sports anchor, he succeeded Bob Inman as the news anchor where he brought class, credibility, and stability to the station for 37 years. Along with Doug Mayes, Bob Inman, and Bill Walker, he is one of the last legacy anchors in Charlotte as a new generation is now taking over. He will be missed.

They have not announced who will succeed at the anchor desk, but meanwhile Jamie Boll seems to be filling in. Also Delano Little has retired as the sports anchor, after succeeding Paul Cameron when he moved to the anchor desk. A new sports anchor has not yet been announced.

I guess that the older guys want to go onto the next phases of their lives in retirement. That's a good thing. Bob Inman became a writer. What's up for Paul Cameron? He's articulate, knowledgeable, and through the years he became a fixture on Charlotte's TV. He can't just disappear!

Paul Cameron is a legend. Back in the late 80s he arrived by helicopter at my high school to deliver our quarterback the WBTV Player of the Week Award. Exciting stuff for a small town school.

I'm really going to miss him. He's such a fixture now in Charlotte news. I will really miss Delano doing "Football Friday Night" shows.

I suspect that the sports replacement is there.

They announced on the news last night that he became a grandpa for the first time yesterday. So, he's got THAT going on now!

I would be surprised if Raycom didn't offer Paul and Delano a nice retirement package in order for them to be off the books by the end of the year.

Raycom is in the middle of merger negotiations with Gray and it makes the bottom line look better if there's unplanned cost savings.

I feel ignorant that I have no idea who this guy is... but then again I rarely watch the news and I’m not originally from the area

I remember all those from years ago when I lived in Charlotte. Oh my, Doug Mayes...now THAT was a long time ago. Saw Cameron when he did sports but not as anchor. Sounds like he did a very good job.
