I have to ditto what berryjuice says. Its a great community and they will be capping it. I have lived in Quellin for 5 years and only smelled it a couple of times. There are some great houses in there right now for sale. Schools are great. Think you'll be happy. Lots of things convenient to neighborhood and a real sense of community.

I'm sorry, but even the threat of a smell from a sewage treatment plant would send me looking elsewhere. Good luck with your decision. I hope all works out for you.

From what I've read on here, they said they would be "capping it" since 2007, however it hasn't happened. So I wouldn't hold my breath thinking it would happen anytime soon...

No pun intended about the "holding the breath" comment...

Can someone who lives near the pool tell me if they've had a problem in Quellin as far north as the pool area; that's where the home is that I'm planning to purchase?

I have lived in Quellin for the last three years and have yet to smell the sewage plant. It depends on which side of the community you live. The home closest to the plant probably have issues periodically the area around the pool and west are effected minimally. I believe the departures are mostly market/business driven.

The plant has been capped, the smell threads are from prior to modification of the plant. Eastern Union County residents tried to convince the county not to modify the plant to suit the "rich" western Union County residents, but they were unsuccessful.

I've lived in Quellin for three (3) years. Shortly after moving in I noticed odors periodically coming from the waste water treatment plant. I organized with some neighbors within the neighborhood and we lobbied the county to cap off the processing tanks causing the odors at the plant. We were successful and the tanks were capped this past spring. (The cost was close to 5 million dollars!) There are no longer any odors coming from the wastewater treatment facility.
