I loooove the Flying Biscuit, but I HAVE to mention the Big Dog Cafe in Waxhaw. We frequent the place so often during the school year, the waitresses save us a table in the morning!
Went to the Big Dog for the first time with the wife on Saturday morning after our stop at the Waxhaw farmers market. The food was good with a reasonable price. We found the staff to be very friendly, especially with families who had children. Never had to wait for a coffee refill, big points there. Will stop in again
Actually, I don't quite get your drift. What kind of place is it? Ultra-fancy or something? Is it just in-laws that would be impressed, or just about anyone?
Maybe I shouldn't have used such an isolated example. Just trying to convey that Nolan's in my opinion is somewhat elegant in its approach to breakfast...........try it, let me know what you think....

Also, the main street grill in Waxhaw. The potatoes are cooked fresh each morning and the omelets (especially like the garden) is awesome. the prices are reasonable and the people who own it are very nice!!!
I now have 4 new places to take my old man when he comes down to visit. He's one of those "Breakfast is the best meal" people. I happen to agree with him.
Went to Flying Biscuit Saturday night. We all had breakfast for dinner. DH had a beer to go with his southern scramble. We all enjoyed it, especially the delicious creamy grits. The biscuits were not the highlight but the food was good.

LOVE their Rosemary Potato's.
