I am going to be living in Indian Trail from Canada and I am interested in how the Recycling works. I read on the page about #1-2 Plastics and other things. But what about moving boxes, cereal boxes etc... Is there a local place you can take things too?

I am highly used to recycling because in our town we were allowed 4 trash bags every 2 weeks on pick up day. Mind you there was no smell because nearly everything was recycled.

I live in Bridgemill which is in Fort Mill/Indian Trail and we have a company that comes and picks up plastic/boxes once a week, but if you don't break the boxes down they wont take them!

I don't believe that Indian Trail is near Ft. Mill, maybe you mean Indian Land?

For the poster: Most collection companies in the area will take cardboard that is broken down and placed at the curb, near your normal recyclables.

There's a recycling center near Sun Valley High School (right on Old Monroe Rd.) that will take clean cardboard, newspapers, glass, plastic. Depending where you live in Indian Trail, it should be relatively close by.

Here's a link: Satellite Collection Sites

They take our cardboard,newspaper,plastic,glass,cans,etc... in Indian Trail with the weekly trash pickup

I don't think they take cereal boxes.

I was told by the Indian Trail recycle "people" that they don't accept boxes with the shiny coating- cereal boxes, etc. Only the brown "regular" cardboard boxes. We had a lot of boxes when we moved, we broke them down and piled them up and they took them no problem. I know there is a recycle "center" in Matthews- 10-15 min. away at a local park, not sure if they can recycle the "shiny" boxes there.
