I just took my vehicle off the road and need to mail my license plates back to DMV. I only had the vehicle registered for a little over a month. Does anyone know if there is a way to recover a pro-rated amount of the taxes I had to pay on the vehicle when applying for a new license plate?

hmm, not sure. try calling the DMV and asking. they are easy to get on the phone quick and are very helpful (in my experience and to my surprise).
