LOL....oh, that's not funny. People just driving by are going to be REALLY curious now. We'll certainly have a post here questioning why the town of Matthews took this man's ARM.
I would love to know which commissioners or members of the town council are responsible for taking Mr. Purser's farm. I believe that eminent domain was meant to take someone's land for an essential purpose when NO OTHER land is available. That is not the case here. This man did not want to sell his land to the town of Matthews-but they TOOK IT anyway. In my view-that's little better than stealing-even if they did give him money for it-because he did not want to sell to them for the price they offered. Regardless-there is a district park within a mile or so on Idlewild Road-a very nice park. Another park is not an essential service.
