Hey everyone - I am new to this but am hoping for a little honest guidance.

I currently live in NY, I can not wait to leave. Next July my son graduates and I am heading home.(NC). My husband owns a small AVL-GPS tracking company and we have decided Charlotte is where we want to move it. He is there meeting with the Chamber of Commerce right now, but I think average people who have nothing to gain either way are the people to ask the kinds of questions I have. We would like to live in a Rural community with a great high school. We are not rich, or snobs. We would like a three bedroom home, 2 baths and prefer something very quiet. We would rather have more land and less house. A log house would be idea with a fireplace or wood stove.
We are simple people and prefer not to live, socialize with snobs or people who think they are better than others. Our company will be located in the South Central City Business Park, but distance to the office is not important, schools are! I am from Raliegh-Durham originally, left in 1993, live in KC, NY, and Tampa. I can not wait to move home where people know how to act. NY winters are horrid and have only 9 more months of this. I am excited to move back to the south but I know so little about Charlotte.

If you have any advice - please share any information you might have regarding neighborhoods and schools. I am simplyjen@msn.com for anyone that wants to correspond and my husband's company is www.trackstar.com .

I don't know if you can find a log home in Charlotte, Maybe in a surrounding town. What is your budget?
