Than think of moving to Fort Mill Sc. It is closer than Davidson and easier to get to the city than many south Charlotte areas that make you travel on 485. Out taxes is SC are cheaper that is what sold me. We moved down from Philly 2 years ago. I am originally from North Jersey out side NYC.

Much depends on your price range. If you can afford Davidson it is a wonderful place to live You'd want to check out jobs at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center if you lived there. However, do find a job FIRST, before you get your heart set on a particular area or home, otherwise you may spend way too much time is awful traffic unnecessarily.

The unincorporated area of Mooresville (Iredell County) also has very low taxes and is a nice, family community. It's just up from Huntersville.

Hmm there are so many areas just outside of Charlotte to choose from. Davidson and Matthews are among my favorites for the small town feel. You can purchase homes right outside of these areas with "elbow" room. I also like Fort Mill, SC. Mint Hill definitely has the elbow room. I have heard great things about Harrisburg as well. I lived in Davidson when I moved to Charlotte 19 years ago and the traffic was pretty bad commuting to Charlotte, but I loved the atmosphere
