At the end of the month I am coming to Charlotte area to meet with a real estate agent. I currently live in Amityville Long Island NY. I'm considering the Huntersville, Davidson area. My children are older so Im not looking for schools. Im from a small historical town. Don't like the high taxes or cold winters. Any suggestions?

Please be sure that you have a job before you come.

I'm a nurse and hoping I won't have a problem. I've already seen postings for nurses. Any suggestions of areas outside Charlotte area?

Huntersville is good. Also, the town of Belmont, in Gaston County, just west of Charlotte, is a small, historical town with charm. Good luck.

Nothing wrong with the Huntersville/Davidson/Cornelius areas, as well as Mooresville and Denver and other areas around the lake. I'm not really getting what you're looking for suggestions for.

Once again, secure the job then decide where to live.

Job postings are misleading sometimes. Our job market is REALLY bad (no matter what the profession)

Huntersville and Davidson are in Mecklenburg County, and taxes are very high in that county. Also, most homes in those towns are right on top of one another. I would recommend Lincoln County (Denver, NC or Iron Station, NC) if you want some breathing room, and lower taxes.

I am originally from NJ and you have no idea how difficult the job market is here.

Do not move w/o a secure job here, period.

That is the best advice I can give you.

You might want to consider Indian Land or Fort Mill,SC. It's just south of Ballantyne in South Charlotte which I've come to love and the cost of living is great. I live directly over the SC border and the gas stations are all like instantly 10 cents cheaper.
