I am moving to Charlotte along with my wife. We have to travel to uptown Charlotte for work everyday. Can you please suggest me some safe neighbourhoods/apartments where I can rent an apartment with shopping, facilities nearby? Is driving to uptown the only option or we have good bus/train facilities?

Could you give us your price range for rent, as well as how long of a ride you are willing to endure? That might help us give you viable suggestions.

We are fine with commuting 10 to 20 miles one way and the rent range is between 600 and 800.

The rent may be slightly more but I would look into apartments in South Park, South Charlotte (US 51 area), Ballantyne and Pineville areas. You could actually do park and ride on the Lynx if you choose the last three. All are safe and have what you are looking for.

Default Matthes is a great area

I love Matthews. It's safe, quiet and just nice area to live in. The bus line runs here, but not the train. Pineville and Ballantyne area are real nice as awell, just a lot pricier. If you are looking for an Apartment, I'd reccomend Matthews Reserve or Windsor Landing. Stay away from Pace Commons, I found they were way over priced for what you get. I also wouldn't reccomend Mission Matthews Place, I lived there for a year and couldn't wait for my lease to end. In fact stay away from the ones directly off Independence, the road is too busy and you can't walk anywhere.
