Right now the major labs there will be the Universities (Duke, UNC, etc.) There are a few companies that are moving in but the focus right now is to go out and get more private firms to come aboard.

What type of job are you looking for?

Agree with the above. BioMarker of W-S is the only non-university tenant I know of thus far, but there will be more to come.

I agree with Sunny, check out the website and make some calls.

Yeah, thanks for the site, I visited it a few months ago. I'm looking more along the lines of a microbiologist position. Not sure how that will fit in as I believe the campus will be geared more towards food/nutrition etc.

Not necessarily. Keep in mind it is in it's infancy. There will be lots of opportunities in a couple of years. The place is not even built yet nor are there a plethora of tenants confirmed...

It will be home to 100+ biotech companies. You need to seek the jobs through those employers. The research campus itself does not do any hiring.

Default Future of Charlotte is in Bio

I really feel that getting the right training in the future is now with what appears to be growing trend in this area with biotech and bio defense type jobs.
Bio defense jobs are rather secure jobs since alot of their money comes from the defense budget. General Defense has been landing contracts for various type of production in the area.

The future Bio Tech campus in Kannapolis will bring wide variety of jobs related to that field and the sub jobs that follow.

This has really got me thinking of my future and I was hoping at my age I would have something sound and just twirl a pencil and engage in good water cooler gossip. Spending all my childhood and early adult hood life in some form of school sytem really left a burnt taste in my mouth but if I dont consider what the future of this state is going to be I am going to be left behind.

With any kind of skill, you need to keep it sharp and up to date.

Take advantage of any free training that you might be able to land in. Learning should never stop in life.

Bio tech is something that sounds interesting for me... maybe I'll check it out in a couple years.

You have made me aware of a trend that I had no idea was going on here. Very interesting. I thought these types of businesses were all located in the Triangle region of the state.

Thank you for sharing this info, Sunny!
