I question what Beazer is doing in this community Mountain Laurel in Concord. On the mls they state if you use Beazer Mortgage you receive anywhere from 20,000 - 30,000 discount on the price of the house. If you use mortgage company of your choice then you pay full price.
I am a realtor and saw a month or two ago, so since all the news about Beazer and their mortgage services I checked the mls to see if they were still stating this and they are. These homes range from 270,000-to mid 300's. I find this absolutley ridiculous. Not to mention appraisals if this is actually happpening, and anyone is paying full price, that goes in there without a realtor and uses their own mortgage or pays cash. Only 3 homes sold so far, all at the reduced price, this is a brand new neighborhood.

With all the press about Beazer at the moment, it would be very foolish for anybody to buy a beazer home.

Also the quality of the workmanship appears to be sub-standard

I am suspicious when a builder offers a discount contingent on buyer using their mortgage company and attorney. In the past I've found that the required mortgage company charged a larger loan origination fee which probably equalled or exceeded the offered discount. So, in essence the buyer was paying himself his own discount. The reason the builder didn't want the buyer to have an agent is because of their questionable practices.

I agree. Beazer couldn't pay me to live in one of their houses right now.

It also depends on the builder. We were already pre qual with a letter when we came in to put the contract on our house. They offered us $12,500 discount if we used their mortgage but we said no way we have our letter here, we have the mortgage already. Long story short, we got $7500 off and $5000 towards closing and used our own lender. If the builder really wants to sell, they will still honor their "gimmicks".
