Do you have someone that can help watch your kids when you are away? I know of a job with great benefits, but fairly low pay. But it's a job, with BCBS benies.

Be VERY Careful, but check Craigslist. Again I strongly urge you to be careful. If possible Google the phone number, or any information the ad gives you.

Why not provide a bit more detail relative to what you are looking for? What have you done previously? What type of job were you laid off from? Any degrees? Geographic location you are targeting? I know its difficult right now, but the more info you provide the greater the chance of getting applicable help. Either way, good luck!

My company is hiring flight attendants. Some live around that area. You commute to your base on other airlines for free. Schedule is typically 4-5 on and 2-3 off for new hires.

Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation

PSA is also hiring, they have a CLT base which would enhance QOL considerably, considering on reserve you mostly sit around at home as long as you are within an hour or two of the airport.

I don't know about their benefits however, or if you could be hired into the CLT domicile right off the bat.
