Hello. I am moving next week from Wisconsin to Charlotte, NC. I want to be within 5 or 10 miles of my job in Matthews. I was hoping for some advice on nice areas in the direction closer to uptown and South Park that are safe. I will be renting for the first 6 months – 1 year. Any areas I should stay away from? Which areas have nice apartments? It would be nice to be close to a greenway (I think they are called) for riding my bike. When I came out there I really liked Ballantyne, but it seemed like it would take forever in trafic to get anywhere. Any other advice for me?

Usually people try to get close to work for a reasonable commute. Is there some reason you don't want to be in Matthews? Or near Matthews?

I'd live in Matthews myself.

There are some nice apartment complexes out in Matthews and they've recently built some new restaurants and a new town hall and public library. If you don't want to live in Matthews, Blakeney and Ballantyne are great areas.
