Does anyone know of a community that allows outsiders to swim in their pool for a reasonable fee in the University area? I have recently been diagnosed with arthritis in my spine & neck & need to try to keep the muscles moving.
the YMCA is $50.00/month, which seems to be a bit pricey. (yes, I am cheap! ). Any other ideas?
Far as personal recommendations I have none but might be able to help you search.
Ever since I had my smart phone I learn that Google will give me matches on criteria im seeking.
go to Google and search public pools in north Charlotte. Kinda ignore the letter matches unless they interest you but focus on the red dots.
Two that I notice near that YMCA was one called Pool Line, however I did Google satellite and it looks like one in middle of an apartment complex.
The other one caught my attention was NCA Swimming pools.
Other than that try one of the nearby aquatic centers.
It is very doubtful you will find a pool in a neighborhood that will let outsiders swim due to two things insurance and HOA.
There is a public pool on North Davidson Street that the city or county runs. That's probably going to be your best bet. Personally, I'd pay the $50 for the YMCA. Fewer kids/teenagers there and you can get some laps in or just float. Plus they have a lot of pool "toys"/exercise float-things.

what about paying by the day at Marion Diehl (its indoor though) Marion Diehl Pool
I would also call the University and ask because maybe they have a way you could use theirs knowing your circumstances, they could study it in their kinesiology classes: Contact Us

I think the Wellington Community (off of Prosperity Church Rd) allows non-residents to purchase a pass. They usually have a sign at the front of their entrance.

Rays splash planet uptown. Free parking and they even offer water exercise classes so you wont be bothered by little kids .
