Hi everyone!

My wife and I will be coming down to NC next week. We are coming to check out the Triangle and Charlotte areas/ neighborhoods for a potential move later this summer. We plan on renting for a 6-12 month period before purchasing a home. This will give us time to get to know the area better and
to decide where we would like to live. We will be staying at the Arrowhead B&B in Durham for half of our stay. This will serve as our "homebase" from which we will explore the Triangle area. For the 2nd half our stay in the Charlotte area, I would like to ask you guys/girls for hotel recommendations. We are interested in checking out the towns of Davidson, Cornelius and Huntersville. My uncle had lived in Davidson and loved it. I'm debating if we should stay at a hotel in one of these 3 towns or getting a hotel in Charlotte. One reason I would like to stay in one of these suburban towns is to get a feel of how the rush hour commute would be to Charlotte where I most likely would be working. Okay, I think I have rambled on enough for now. Hotel recommendations and any advice you can share with me would be greatly appreciated! Have a great day!

Gary

Whenever you are ready to rent, Moderator cut: advertise personal residence in Classified Ads forum only, please

I can only recommend places to stay in Mooresville as I have stayed there alot when we were having our home built.

Just wanted to add one thing: GOODLUCK finding somewhere to stay. It is race week and pretty much every hotel in the area is completely booked solid...

Well you might be outta luck getting a place in the Huntersville area since the race is in Charlotte the next couple of weeks. Any of the hotels on Exit 25 would be fine. Ask for the relocation deal. They might not offer it since its going to be a busy weekend.

Good luck finding a room at this late date!!

The Coca-Cola 600 (formerly the World 600) is a six hundred mile (966 km) stock car race held annually at Lowe's Motor Speedway (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway) in Charlotte on Memorial Day weekend. It is the longest NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race and in fact is the longest regularly-scheduled automobile race conducted on an oval track anywhere in the world.

Lowe's Motor Speedway is a superspeedway in Concord, North Carolina, north of Charlotte. It features a 1.5 mile long quad-oval track that seats 167,000 people, with room for 50,000 more spectators in the infield.

Many activities occur during the week prior to the race. Starting tomorrow thousands of people will begin pouring into town for all the festivities and events. Hotels for up to 50 miles away are usually booked. Sorry to say, you may not find any availability if you haven't got a reservation by now, but GOOD LUCK!

I liked the Wingate Inn right off of HWY150 and I-77 in Mooresville...

As far as the race goes... I usually fly in and out of Charlotte every 2-3 weeks. My flight usually runs about $220 roundtrip. I am flying out Wednesday and my flight went from $220 to $417.. I almost fell over!

Hi! I've heard there are lots of activities uptown during race week. Is anyone able to suggest a website that has info on family activities over race week?
