Before I ask, trust that I already know that this is a loaded question, but I'll ask anyway. If you were fortunate enough to live in either/or and investigated both, what were "your" reasons for choosing Charlotte over the triangle cities such as Durham,Raleigh,Chapel Hill,Cary, Wake Forest, etc...

I'm 31 and thought that the city of Charlotte seemed young and vibrant. While others are scared of the cities growth, I'm excited about it! i THINK it will be cool to see how the city grows and changes...

There's a little bit of everything here and very centralized as far as traveling is concerned.

I agree with you. I'm not 31 though but young at heart.

We didn't choose Charlotte over Raleigh, but we had no choice. Charlotte is where the jobs were.

We had chosen Raleigh because we have several friends there and knew people. I think Charlotte was a better choice for us overall though. It has more of a "city" feel which I prefer.

First of all, my family's in the area. Recreationally, there's more to do in the Charlotte area and the cost of living is a little lower. Too, Charlotte's a little closer to being centrally located to the beaches/mountains (I love visiting both).

I came to Charlotte because my father had already moved here. Good decision for me. I have nothing against the Raleigh area as i have visited several several times; I just prefer Charlotte.

Just drive to the city of Charlotte and see for yourself. Charlotte is becoming something very special and I cannot say the same for Raleigh.

I love your answer. My plan is to spend a few days in Charlotte when I visit in August. I guess the only way to find out what a place is really like is to visit and see how impacts me.

Thank you all for your responses.

It's funny, I saw this post in the Raleigh sub-forum (no problem with that), it's interesting to compare the responses.
