Can he find near the campus where it's safe and affordable? Affordable meaning $400-$450 a month.

Thanks

I'm thinking he might need to pick up a roommate or two. $400-$450 a month isn't going to get you much in the way of "safe".

As coastalgirl said, he'll need a roommate to pay that amount of rent. Any apt that rents for under $500 in Charlotte is going to be very undesirable. Can he go up to at $600 if he wants to live alone?

He will be safer if you have him look to live east of uptown (J & W is on the west side of uptown). In particular, search for places in Elizabeth, Chantilly and Plaza Midwood. Are you coming to scout out the area yourself? Because many places won't be advertized except with a sign in the yard.

Here's a link to Post Gateway Place. It is on Trade, one block from J&W, so your son can walk. If you go to the right, there is a link to Find A Roommate. A studio starts at $635 although you may have to check availability. I work at Gateway Plaza and it is a very nice area.

You need to have EXTREMLY good credit for these apartments as they will not accept a Guarantor from parents and the students need to have a credit score in the 700's
