Possible relocation to the Charlotte area this summer. I work from home so don't need to be in a certain location but would like to be within 30 - 45 minutes of the airport.

I'll be selecting a town with the best school - please advise. How are schools in Huntersville and Cornielius? Are there better districts?
Thanks

Search greatschools.net and previous threads here... Seeing Huntersville and Cornelius as your only 2 mentioned towns in a post exclusively about public schools makes me wonder what research you've done. What led you to those towns?

Don't base an opinion of a town on its Elementary only.

most of the better schools in Charlotte area are in South Charlotte, western Union County.

It's an extremely large metro area - even 30-45 minutes from the airport means you could also be looking in SC... Knowing more about your requirements, especially your price range, will help folks give you advice.

I'm not looking to purchase a house immediately. I will probably rent a 3 bedroom house for the first 6 -12 months. I'm looking at rentals up to $1500 per month.

I am not interested in SC.

I'm looking for a community with the best elementary schools, good shopping & resturants, family focused with lots of activities for children. My daughter dances, acts and loves gymnastics. I need easy access to the airport.

Thanks

South Charlotte would probably work best for you, but also look at Lincolnton & Kings Mountain. In those towns you would go to Gastonia for a lot of your shopping. Kings Mountain has a community theater. There is a very good BBQ restaurant, Big E's, http://bigebarbq.com/index.htm (broken link) & a new, more upscale restaurant, Old Stone Steakhouse, will be opening this fall. This is a website for an existing Old Stone Steakhouse. The owners are local & also have restaurants in Charlotte. Old Stone Steakhouse

This website will allow you to check schools. Good luck. GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community
