So I'm continuing the saga trying to find somewhere I want to live commuting to Buffalo Grove. I've been there visiting a couple times and I'm just not at all confident I'm going to be happy in the burbs.
(Yes, I should have done better due dilegence before accepting the position!) I've been searching the archives and know there has been some info on the commute from Evanston to BG (Millenial mom's daughter did it), but I can't find the info on how tough it actually is.

Thanks again..

Given the huge amount of road construction coupled with the fact there is no direct route you should expect commute times well over 60 minutes AM & probably over 75 to 90 minutes PM. Throw in weather or lane closures and increase those times by 25% or more.

Personally I think that leaves very little time to enjoy where you live. Living in Arlington Heights would probably keep commute times under 30 mins or less...

Hi grasshopper

My daughter lives in the southeastern part of Evanston (Hinman/Main). She commutes to Milwaukee and Half Day Rd area. She leaves around 7:00 - 7:15; her morning commute has been averaging 40 - 45 minutes. Her return takes a little longer. She leaves around 5:00 and has been averaging about 1 hour 10 minutes. Like Chet says, unusual conditions can add to the commute.

When she relocated to the area she initially lived in Lake Forest. She is 23 yo. Even though LF is very nice and a much better commute she finds the commute from Evanston well worth the time and more to her liking.

I'm would be glad to get answers to any other questions you might have.
