We are looking to rent a townhome on Judith Ct, we really love it, BUT the only neighbor we saw didn't look very.... friendly. We want to sign the lease ASAP, so anyone that can tell us about this area would be much appreciated!! I just want to know if these townhomes are known to be troublesome, as most townhomes like this usually are in my experience. They are supposedly mostly owner-occupied and do not accept section 8 if this means anything?

I'm sure that means it's a bad neighborhood. I'd stay away, make sure the neighbors smile and wave before you move in.

Meaning what? That all of BArtlett is bad?
What a tiresome, useless, over-generalization
So how helpful would it be if I pop on the Chicago forum and someone asks about Uptown and I say "I'll give you an easy clue, it's Chicago."?? Yup, it would be totally pointless and useless to someone who is not familiar with the nuances of a particular neighborhood!

That's not exactly an easy clue, I know nothing about Bartlett. Are you saying it has bad parts, or the opposite?

OP, why don't you call the police and see if they get many calls to your location, if any. It's doubtful that anyone here is going to "really know" that exact location.

I tried calling the police, they said they cannot give me any information.

Wow, after doing a bit of research, Vlajos is right on the money according to this chart (not sure if the site is reputable). Bartlett isn't that safe, and the area you're looking at OP, is particularly bad. Sorry.

I would take the Neighborhood Scout statistics with a grain of salt. The neighborhood I am grouped in with is rated high; yet my immediate neighborhood is pretty safe. Why the skewed stats? Because of 2 large apartment complexes that while not "bad" are not high rent either. These have more car break ins and burglaries than SFH neighborhoods.

So information from posters who live in the vicinity will usually be more useful than the web-site.

To OP, what do surrrounding blocks look like? What kind of cars do you see? How are the properties kept? Graffitti? Are there any large rental properties close by or is it primarily SFH?
