Hi,

I am going to take some workshops in Chicago for one month in the summer, and would like to find an affordable and safe accommodation near the school ( West Guyler Ave, near Irving Park Brown station). what do you call this area? is this North Center? is it safe? where should I look for a place? give me some names of safe neighborhoods that are within walking distance or a reasonable commute time from the school. I have never been in Chicago before so I don't know the neighborhoods well.

I was thinking if you know of any women residences that offer short term accommodations? I have seen this type of arrangement in NYC and DC and was wondering if I could find something similar in Chicago?

Also, it would be nice if locals give me their insights on what to visit during my stay there. I mostly don't care for night life but all about arts and stained glass.

Thank you in advance!

I just realized that I posted this in Chicago suburbs not Chicago forums, and would appreciate if mods fix this for me. Thanks!

You're going to the Chicago Mosaic School for a month? I'm so jealous. I take classes and do studio time there as often as I can, but not enough. I know someone who is coming next month and rented an apartment through airbnb near the school. It's perfectly safe. By the way, the street is Cuyler, not Guyler. I would look for rentals along the brown line. The school is about a block from the Irving Park station. You might be able to find a summer sublet from a DePaul student. I don't know of any women's residences in Chicago anymore.

Lol! Knitgirl. You are more than welcome to come and join me! Thanks for the info. I am still wondering.. what is the name of the school's neighborhood ? Is it North Center?
I am trying to find a place through airbnb but it is either too expensive or not available for the whole month.
