Hello. My husband is considering a job in Chicago. I have a 9th grader with aspergers syndrome that gets good grades, but is in a program at his high school that provides a social skills elective class, co-taught classes, and extra support if needed. My younger son is in 7th grade. He is autistic and is in a self contained classroom specifically for high functioning autistic children and works at a 1st-2nd grade level. Their main focus is independent functionality and they work on things like cooking, doing laundry, paying for things....etc. They have a community based field trip every week. They do all of the main subjects, just at a much lower level. We are looking to buy a house in a nice area with lots to do and not too far from shops and restaurants and whatnot. Obviously, our main focus is the be in a school district that will have services for our children. We would like to be within a 40 min commute on the train or 30 min by car. I am also concerned about the parking situation at the train stations (not sure how that works). A planned community would be a plus if it had hiking trails, a community center with a pool, and activities....Our price range is up to $700,000. Any guidance would be appreciated!!

$700k and 40 minute train ride means that Barrington and Naperville would be excellent options. Both are known for having very well regarded special education departments.

Ditto. Also, Arlington Heights would be a good option too.
